ARTIST STATEMENT & FIELD AND FRAME EXHIBIT GALLERY

My work has been focused on Mexican border paintings for the past 5 years and more recently on the landscapes of immigration detention centers, past, imagined, and present, from Angel Island to Alcatraz to Alligator Alcatraz.

I have been concurrently painting landscapes honoring Latino farmworkers such as my grandparents who lived and worked in the San Joaquin Valley in California. I was inspired by the beautiful farmscapes of Wilson and created this series especially for this show at The Edge.

All of my work celebrates the joy of painting landscape through Mexican color palettes while undertaking deeper themes of the immigration crisis and the Latino experience in this country.
