THE GALLERY AT THE EDGE:

CURATED EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS

The Edge Gallery opened in 2021 as a realization of my vision. I love curating shows, selecting artists, and designing exhibitions that invite reflection and conversation. We feature a mix of local, national, and international artists, with each show intentionally designed to transform the space.Original elements—like the polished cement floor, custom 3D locally made oak shelf, and antique Japanese ladder—add soul and character. Between exhibitions, the gallery sometimes features my own work and pieces by Sebastian Correa, including his Rockstars & Flowers series, my Buddha portraits, and “Ambis” (ambiguous faces).

BARBASTIAN

A CREATIVE COLLABORATION

BY BARB WHITE AND SEBASTIAN CORREA

Sometimes we paint on the same piece, passing it back and forth to add layers and unexpected twists. This is the first time, Sebastian and I are showing our collaborative work under the name Barbastian. What started as playful experimentation in our shared studio has grown into a creative dialogue—one built on trust, curiosity, and the joy of stepping out of our own grooves.

BEN BRIDGERS
PAINTINGS

While Ben Bridgers has extensively studied, taught and exhibited around the world, Wilson, NC is also an important part of his story, The Edge Wilson Gallery was proud to close our spring season with an exhibition of this stature—featuring the exceptional work of an artist of remarkable depth, experience, and vision. We were especially delighted to welcome Bridgers back to Wilson, where his creative path began.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Bridgers earned his BFA in Painting from Barton College (Wilson, NC) in 1995 before pursuing graduate work in Cortona, Italy, and later earning his MFA from the University of Georgia. Over the past three decades, he has exhibited nationally and taught extensively, holding tenured faculty positions and working abroad in Italy and across the U.S.

Since returning to North Carolina in 2012, he has continued his studio practice from Durham while also working in collections care for museums and private collectors. Occasionally, he teaches painting and drawing, sharing his passion for the craft and its rich history.

Since 1999, Ben Bridgers has actively exhibited his work and participated in the broader arts community through solo and group shows, fellowships, and speaking engagements. He has received several competitive grants and research awards supporting his studio practice and academic pursuits. Bridgers has been invited to share his work and insight at universities, museums, private galleries, and arts organizations across the U.S., including recent engagements in Wyoming, Missouri, Alabama, and North Carolina—reflecting his longstanding commitment to both making and sharing art.

ARTIST STATEMENT (excerpt):

"My painting practice is rooted in time and transformation—anchored by the tactile, enduring process of paint on canvas. I explore themes drawn from memory, perception, and fleeting sensations, using classical methods to shape spaces that are imagined, observed, and constructed. The work unfolds in the terrain between representation and abstraction, sustained by a deep fascination with the history of paintings.

A COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS BY

SEBASTIAN CORREA

FEATURING PORTRAITS PAINTED FOR THE COVER OF A NEW ALBUM

"TOO PURE TO CURE" BY THE RITUALISTS

Rockstars & Flowers V, the latest collection by resident artist Sebastian Correa.

This striking body of work includes the original portraits featured on the vinyl cover of Too Pure to Cure, the new album by NYC-based art-rock band The Ritualists. Created through a shared creative exchange, these portraits sparked a broader series that marks a bold evolution in Sebastian’s style.

The exhibition also includes his signature painted flowers, revealing the continuity and growth in his artistic process.

The “V” in the title marks Sebastian’s fifth Rockstars & Flowers exhibition—don’t miss this last chance to experience the work in person.

As part of our opening event, The Ritualists performed acoustically in the Gallery, and we then moved the celbration on to Downtown Public House, where the band performed two full sets on the Courtyard stage, with Sebastian guesting on the base for one song! Art and music are part of the process of creativity and The Edge is grateful to have had this opportunity to collaboratively present both!
